OUR Story
Karamoor’s story begins in the early 1980s when Nick and Athena Karabots purchased Oxmoor Estate and its adjoining property, Brookside Farm. As first-generation Greeks, the Karabots’ combined their last name with Oxmoor to rechristen the estate Karamoor, which loosely translates from Greek to “my happiness.” In 2003, Nick and Athena envisioned a way to share their joy with others through winemaking. They dreamed of growing grapes on Karamoor’s farm land and producing world-class wine in the suburbs of Philadelphia.
Working alongside renowned viticulturist Lucie Morton, the Karabots family realized their vision, planting their first 12 acres in 2006, followed by 5 acres in 2008 and an additional 10 in 2013. Since producing our first commercial vintage in 2008, quality and family have remained central to everything we do.
